Downtown Pittsburgh’s Premier Cocktail Lounge
The Best Cocktails in Pittsburgh. On a Starship.
Space Bar is a molecular mixology cocktail lounge in the heart of Market Square, downtown Pittsburgh. Founded by sci-fi author Dale Thomas Vaughn and retired trauma healer Elizabeth Menzel, Space Bar combines world-class craft cocktails with an immersive starship experience unlike anything else in the city.
Explore our space
Step through the door at 22 Market Square and board the SS Oasis. Moon-shaped light fixtures hang overhead. Nebula images glow from tabletops. Digital windows cycle through galaxies and distant star systems. The sound-dampened walls create an intimate, sophisticated atmosphere worthy of a first-class lounge on a vessel bound for deep space.
One of the best bars in Pittsburgh, period.

What We Serve
Space Bar’s cocktail menu features handcrafted molecular mixology that pushes the boundaries of what a drink can be. Expect fat-washed spirits, house-made infusions, culinary foams, acid-adjusted juices, force carbonation, hickory smoking, and dry ice service. Every cocktail is built from scratch, in-house, by our mixology team led by Arum Krause, Bekah Coffey, and Daniel Velasquez.
Where To Find Us
Space Bar sits at 22 Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh, steps from the T station and surrounded by the energy of one of the city’s most historic public squares. Whether you are exploring downtown Pittsburgh for the first time or looking for your new regular spot, we are easy to find: just look for the neon astronaut waving through the window.
Parking: Free street parking after 6 PM (limited availability). The 3rd Avenue Garage offers $6 parking after 4 PM on weekdays and weekends. Highmark building parking is $7 after 5 PM. Valet parking is available around the square for $15.
Who We Are
Space Bar was founded by two people who believe Pittsburgh deserves a cocktail lounge that matches the city’s ambition.
Dale Thomas Vaughn is a published sci-fi author, communications strategist, and the founder of SpaceBurgh, Pittsburgh’s annual space and science fiction festival drawing 10,000+ attendees each year. Elizabeth Menzel is a retired trauma healer with a lifelong passion for space and science fiction. Together, they built Space Bar to reflect Pittsburgh’s growing identity as a space city, home to Astrobotic, the Moonshot Museum, and nearby towns named Moon, Mars, and Apollo.
The result is a cocktail lounge where geek chic meets cosmic elegance: inclusive, welcoming, and built for the curious.
